Hello,

Great news, Prometheus has really outdone themselves, This might be the best multiple reissues I've seen in a long time.

"King Solomon's Mine"
"Quigley Down Under"
"Platoon / salvador"

My order has been placed!

Best Regards,
David Phoenix, AZ.

Sorry but I don't see myself what's so great about these releases. Of course they look nice and I hope to get them one day too, but having just re-releases of older scores with an extra minute of music here, an extra paragraph in the liner notes there and an almost-unnoticably improved sound quality over there just doesn't seem that good to me. There are still too many completely unreleased scores -- of course what is a question here is if they even CAN be released. I hope they can because otherwise we'll have to stick to 2 CD Inchons and expanded releases adding almost nothing new in the future.

A lot of people who appreciate Jerry Goldsmith do not have KSM and this is a great opportunity to acquire a great Goldsmith score.

Having that said, I was wondering about this label even though I just found out today by accident that this past summer they also had released Poledouris' "Farewell To The King" score for which I had absolutely no clue.

Anyway, KSM was one Goldsmith score I did not have and always wanted but never got around to it.

Listening to it... it's a wonderfully executed score!...

It is excellent!

I'm glad it was again released this time by Prometheus (with the correct speed mind you) for the people who don't have it and personally for not having anymore to pay an outrageous price tag for the previous Intrada releases on eBay which interestingly enough according to the producer's current Prometheus release Ford A. Thaxton, have the music at a slightly faster speed thus affecting the pitch.

Frankly, I'm still curious in purchasing and listening to one of the previous Intrada releases with their difference in music speed - if it can be audibly detected- which I find sort of unusual that this 'error' had occured in those Intrada releases in the first place without nobody taking notice until now.

It is sort of a collector's item I guess, something like a stamp that was printed upside down.

As far as the bonus tracks, they are nothing to kill over... just added tracks of some sort for the sake of calling this edition an expanded edition.

A few extra minutes of what seems 'the boys' in the orchestra just having fun.

They are welcomed nevertheless.

Track 19, ''Jerry's Ride'' (3' 06") is not original music.

It seems like rehearsal takes of a very popular, adventurous sounding, classical music piece used in many films whose title escapes my memory at the moment and which most probably is conducted by Goldsmith and perhaps slightly re-arranged as well.
I don't remember if it was used in the film.
You could here some background studio noise including voices.
I think it is "The Ride of The V... something"... I can't remember.

Could it be one of the pieces from "The Planets" by Holst?

It is very well known!

Anyway,

Track 20 ''Drums & Chants'' (40 seconds) & 21 ''Pre- Ritual'' (12 seconds) are just drums being played with a crescendo climax.

Track 22 ''Theme From KSM'' (3' 40"), a different variation of the theme.

Overall, it is absolutely great that this score is finally available the way it was meant to sound and for the low price, it should be a part in every Jerry Goldsmith collection.

Cheers folks!

...Wagner, "The Ride Of The Valkyries".

Hello,

Is there not anyone who is curious like me about the Basil Poledouris score "Quigley Down Under"? The Intrada release has 11 tracks and the upcoming Prometheus release has 30 tracks.

Best Regards,

It seems the 4 extra tracks explained by serifiot on King Solomon's Mines are not the asset of this new expanded rerelease but the fact that it's presented in the correct speed whatever that may be. I don't have any Intrada release as well so most likely I'll be getting this one. Platoon is the same but the added Salvador has 5 more music tracks. Quigley Down Under on the other hand looks like a truly expanded rerelease with all this extra music which I'm looking forward to. Why can't they release it like this the first time around?

Hooray, I already have Quigley and Platoon and now can add KS Mines
