Ennio Morricone horror scores...
I was wondering if anyone had some good suggestions on creepy scores from Ennio Morricone. I haven't listened to any Italian horror scores, so I'm leary to just buy one to try out. I want to get a good one. I love his work on 'The Thing', and was wondering what other horror scores he's done that are really worth the buy. Thanks for any help.

Why not try Phantom of the Opera, which he did for Dario Argento. There's some lovely music in it also.

Two I like much are "Gli Occhi Freddi Della Paura" and "Il Gatto A Nove Code'. Avant Garde and performed by Il Gruppo.
As well as "The Heretic" which could be described as straight tough ass drama with a splattering of Voodoo magic!
Have to mention "4 Mosche Di Velluto Grigio", contains some of the most brutal jazz mankind will ever experience.

AMANTI D'OLTRETOMBA has a bit of everything. At times it's beautifully melodic, but it also alternates avant garde experimentation. Take note of this.
CHI L'HA VISTA MORIRE? is a master work of diabolical contrast. Childish lullabies against brutal murders... Great!
You may also like WOLF, a good example of Morricone's american scores in the nineties.

"La Sindrome Di Stendhal" is also very good and has a great haunting main theme.
