Well, technically iTunes allows you to download in mp4 format. But the long way to get it as a mp3 would be to download it, burn it to a disc, then use a program (Nero, Windows Media Player, etc.) to rip it to your hard drive as mp3's.

MP3 that does not make! The resulting file would have all the weaknesses of both lossy formats, as well as compounded encoding and read/write errors. PLEASE DO NOT PRACTICE THIS, uh... PRACTICE.
