Question

don't get fooled by extra tracks on japanese cds

I bought recently the soundtrack Roma by Nino Rota. As it was advertised with extra tracks never released before. On the Japanese Verita Note label. It turned out to have the same tracks as the 2 disc Fellini-Rota set on GDM in Italy. So, nothing new. However their ~Il diavolo nel cervello~ by Ennio Morricone was also advertised with extra new tracks, and this was true. It came in with Roma. So, beware.

I'm not sure if there's any connection between the labels but the Verita Note releases have similar label numbers as the Argus releases (VQCD and GQCD) and Argus' expanded Il Commissario Pepe with 8 extra tracks is an outstanding release.

Thanks for the warning about Roma. Do you know if "Spara Forte, Piu Forte, Non Capisco" has something more on the new release ?

Argus & Verita Note labels are related somehow. It seems some of their releases are straight reissues with no extra tracks, and some have bonus tracks.

Slalom; Gli Intoccabili; Il Commissario Pepe; Dramma della Gelosia; La Matriarca; Sissignore; Il Diavolo nel Cervello; Vamos a Matar, Companeros (coming soon) have extra tracks.

It always helps to read the track listing before buying. Their websites are at:
http://www.veritanote.com
http://www.arguslabel.com
(each website can connect to the other, see doorways in the background)

Also, it is strange that some of their CD's are mastered with HDCD and some are not.

I also ordered this japanese Roma CD. Fortunately I still only had the LP including the great
theatre music (not by Rota by the way, but very Fellini-esque) that is not included on any CD
release (as I can make out from the tracklists). It would have been a much better idea to
include those as extra tracks. The way I understand it is this; tracks 1-12 are in mono, tracks
13-17 are in stereo and are the exact same tracks that were on the original LP-release,
minus the tracks not written by Rota (like the Barafonda Theatre potpourri, Roman Festival
etc.).

By the way, due to the weak Yen and strong Euro it is much cheaper to order japanese CD's
for Europeans these days. I paid the same price for this Roma CD (including shipping!) as a
regular released new soundtrack CD available in a retailshop here in Holland would have cost
me (but new CD's are expensive here, around 20 euro's).

Hi Coma,

if you want to order japanese CD's a lot cheaper use this japanese retailer;

http://www.arksquare.net/index_main.html

Their service is excellent, very fast, they communicate in good english and (shipping)prices
are very reasonable compared to dealers in Europe that import japanese stuff. They have
their site in English too, so online ordering is easy. If you can't find a release on their site just
send them an email and they can probably find it for you. Cheers!

I have the japanese release of "Lost in Translations" and it contains a ghost track and a bonus track exclusively for this edition. There is also a link to a secret website page of the movie.
