Anyone else feel the new Goldsmith is cheap exploitation?
"Jerry Goldsmith; His Final Recordings". What is this, a repackaging of three already available scores in order to make a cheap dollar?
Personally I think it's a damn shame to exploit the man in such a way. Not the sort of thing Varese Sarabande would have produced years ago.

In a way yes, it does seem exploitative. The release is limited to 2.500 copies as well. They could cost more though if purchased separately. Same thing with ''The Omen Trilogy Box'' and this other one which has Waxman's ''Rebecca'' and two other classic scores I can't recall now, all with Joel McNeely conducting The Royal Scottish National Orchestra, also limited to 2.500 copies.

I think it is a waste of time to be honest. I won all three already and I know I probably paid
100% retail on all three scores. They should release three scores that are hard to find like
Freud, or the Reincarnation of Whoever it was haha ... these are just two scores I have bootlegs
of that is the audio files.. but since I can't buy these cds .. then I have to hear them this way. If
they were released I would purchase them. oh well.
new 3 Disc set is a waste of time and effort.

Don't you think they are just trying to get rid of existing stock? I mean that if you make a bundle of things sitting on your shelves and give a little discount of the total, I don't see a problem.
Or do you think they repressed those?

According to this website, 277 people already have the Star Trek, 230 people have Timeline and 137 own a copy of Looney Tunes. There are probably a few hundred out there that have one or two but not all three cd's. This set with a special slipcase or box should entice them to buy it. I have all three and I'm thinking of getting it because 1) it's Jerry, and 2) it's pretty cheap.
Exploitive, no, playing with our emotions, you bet.

A nice recording of "Lonely Are The Brave" would be great. As well as "The Reincarnation Of Whoever It Was".

"Reincarnation of Peter Proud"
JackDVD78, January 8, 2007; 4:36 PM

That would be a soundtrack to finally reelase
THE REINCARNATION OF PETER PROUD, i'd be one of the first to order it, it would be worthed.

I don't have any of them yet.
This package is a good thing. As Music from the Movies said, "An interesting collection, reminding us of Goldsmith’s diverse talents… "
his_dudeness2002, January 8, 2007; 7:58 PM

I don't need to be reminded of Goldsmith's diverse talents.
I became aware of it in 1979 after listening to "A Patch Of Blue" for the first time.
victoravalentine, January 9, 2007; 12:19 PM

But what about those who aren't aware?
I myself only got into Goldsmith's work properly about 4 years ago.
his_dudeness2002, January 9, 2007; 2:11 PM

Come to think of it, you are right dude.
Get all three at a better price is a good thing and truly enjoy them once you get them!
Jerry Goldsmith's music is GRAND and like wwk stated... diverse, to say the least.
