*SOME LIKE IT HOT* Varèse or Ryko?
Hello everybody!
I was interested in purchasing the soundtrack to this Billy Wilder's master piece on CD. But I don't know which one is the best release, the original Ryko or the re-release by Varèse Sarabande.
I always prefer the first edition, and I like much more the cover art in the Ryko label, but I've heard rumours about the improved sound quality of the Varèse release. I've also noted that the Ryko CD has got some more tracks, but are they only dialogue tracks?
Please, if any of you could give me your opinion, I'd appreciate it.
Best regards,
Angel

The amount of music on both CD releases is the same (same as the UA LP). The Ryko has few short dialogue tracks, but unlike with their other releases, I think that here the dialogue really fits in well and the quotes are truly great!
"You got to be under 25"
"We could pass that"
"You got to be blond"
"We could pass that"
"And you got to be girls"
"We could..."
"No we couldn't!"
or
"All the girls drink, it's just me who always gets caught. That's the story of my life -- I always get the fuzzy end of the lollipop."
etc.
The cover is great (better than Varese in my opinion) and the usual Ryko deluxe booklet has long liner notes, many photos and a large movie poster.
But that's just me praising the Ryko, in fact I don't know any details about the Varese release.

I'd prefer the Ryko release too. The sound is warmer, the Varèse release is sounding tinny in my
ears. As Dorian already mentioned, the tracks are completely the same and the tidbits of
dialogue are perfectly chosen. Perhaps the least important difference is that the Varèse cover is
truly disgusting... ;-)

Thank you very much, my friends!
I'll go for the Ryko release!
