Best way to sell soundtracks???

At the moment, I am looking to sell a good portion of my soundtrack collection. Most of (nearly all) my soundtracks have only been played once. I listen to most all of my music through a portable hard drive or wirelessly through my surround sound system that is linked to my XBOX 360. My question is, what is the best way to sell the soundtracks? Should I maybe group them by composer, by genre, maybe in a series (Matrix, Matrix Reloaded, Matrix Revolution), or some other way. I'm not looking to make a fortune off the soundtracks that I sell, just trying to possibly get close to what I put into them. Which I don't think will be hard for some, but maybe on others, depending on how I sell them.

I've decided to sell most of them on Ebay, but don't want to sell all of them one-by-one. Cause then you're paying Ebay everytime just for the listing, and that can really add up. So what is the smartest way? Any help is going to be much appreciated.

James, I don't know if I'm supposed to take your first sentence as a bit of an insult or compliment. But, non the less, my decision to sell my soundtracks has been reached out of desperation, due to a personal matter which has become unavoidable. Not that I feel the need to explain myself to you, or that I think it makes me any less of a soundtrack collector. I guess I can call myself a soundtrack collector, not a "soundtrack cd" collector. It just so happens that they are the only thing that I have of any worth. Believe me, it's not something that I enjoy doing. I spent a good deal of money acquiring the soundtracks I now posses, and hate parting with a single one. Now, back to my posted question.......

Sorry you are in a position of needing to sell them.

I suggest looking at bid histories on eBay to see which titles sell for high prices and which sell poorly or not at all. Then, list the good sellers singly. It's a nuisance and costs more in fees, but you will get more money than if you lump them in groups.

Too often when I see a group of CDs on eBay I am either not interested in some of them, or already have some of them. That means I would not be willing to bid the value of those I don't want. I would bid only up to the value of the one or a few that I would want.

Then, for those that do not sell well on eBay, post a list of titles and prices here and on FSM. That way you don't waste listing fees on items that won't sell. You can have individual prices or offer a discount for multiple buys.

Good luck.

You can list them on GEMM site. You still have to pay commission, but only when the item sells. The item remains there till it sells or you delete it, and it doesn't cost anything just to list it.

You can look at my GEMM listings as an example:

I would say e-bay. Grouping them together is not a very good idea in my opionion.. I never buy like that, especially if there are 4-6 cd's and a person only wants one. Then you have more in shipping fees too. As far as e-bay if you don't sell it the 1st time you can relist w/no additional fees. Also start the bidding at the very least you would take for it and don't gouge on shipping. Should not have any trouble selling. Also you may want to look at Amazon.com No fees unless you sell. Just my opinion.
As far as your selling off, I can sympathize. More than half of mine I have only listened to once. I have been thinking about thinning them out.

Same advice here, use eBay for the rare (valuable) CD's. Forget about the not so rare CD's, they
will only sell for about 5-10 $ each. You can see at the Amazon 'used' section what a certain
title sells for. Don't expect more. I think listing them here at the forum is a possibility, but
again, don't expect more than a used Amazon CD costs.

I also sold some of the CD's that don't meet my expectations. Sometimes a CD of a composer I
really like doesn't do a thing for me, so I sell it for about 5 $ at eBay. I stopped doing that after I
noticed it isn't worth the trouble of listing it, make the CD ready to ship, pay all the fee's and
break about even. You only gained a little shelve space but lost a lot of time.
