Looking for specifically themed soundtracks
Hi, I was wondering if I could get recommendations on some soundtracks. I'm looking for stuff with these aspects,
Dark, moody, gloomy, simple, drums, low and bassy, deep horns. Militaristic, medieval, dark ages. 'Strange evil soundeffects'. I'm being very specific but I'm trying to write down what I hear in my head
Thanks for any help! :)

Maybe Leonard Rosenman's score for the animated "Lord of the Rings"? I think it meets at least most of the requirements you have listed.

Try John Corigliano's "Altered States" or Jerry Goldsmith's "Planet of the Apes". I'd say they fit your criteria quite well.

You might really like to check out the score done by Howard Shore for "Seven". Very dark and moody, with good climax points.

Also, maybe check out "House on Haunted Hill" by Don Davis. He actually uses cues in the score that are at times reminiscent of "The Matrix". Cool use of organs.

This one might or might not fall into your mentioned category, but try maybe even Anne Dudley's "American History X". It will deliver the militaristic style you spoke of.

You could check out "Bram Stokers Dracula" by Wojciech Kilar. Has a good medieval/dark ages feel to it.

Look at any of the "Resident Evil" game soundtracks, as well as "Silent Hill". They have 'strange evil sound effects' kinda all throughout.

Take a look at "The Thing" by Ennio Morricone. One of my favorite creepy scores of all time. Really gives you the feeling of loneliness and abondoment, which is what the movie was going for. That isolated feel.

Well, that should be enough to get you started. I provided links to Amazon on all these, so that you may preview them, since I suggested them. Let me know if you like any of them. I own them all.

Don't know if you have it or not,but "The Crow" by Graeme Revell embodies just about all the aspects that you listed.
perfectflaw007, January 18, 2007; 11:11 PM

Ah, speaking of Graeme Revell, check out "The People Under The Stairs". AWESOME movie that really never got much attention. Some really creepy sounds at times.

Sorry though, you won't be able to preview this one, since Amazon doesn't sell it, only people on it's site. But it's one of the one's that I am selling soon.
