Question

Producer or Music Supervisor?

A short technical question. I just got a current soundtrack album that drowns the few score bits in songs and thus makes the whole soundtrack sound almost the contrary of the tone of the movie. Just imagine a movie about dying and The Beach Boys on the soundtrack album (just to make up a comparison).

So my question is whom do I have to contempt? The "producer", the "executive producers" or the "music supervisor" of the soundtrack? :-)

Best wishes,

Urs

First of all it's the producer who defines the guidelines. The executive producer is controlling the
implementation of these and the music supervisor is responsible for the technical translation.

Thanks. I conclude that in this case, the composer himself decided to hide his score away from the public.

As the composer in far too many cases, gives away his publishing rights to the production
company, I wouldn't dare to blame him. I guess, if the composers would have the final word
(like Morricone), many more scores would see the light of day - and in a much better
presentation...

Whats the name of the film?

At this stage I'd say show your contempt towards the entire crew including the prop department.
