Look at a map of West Central Europe and spot the point where the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany touch each other. That's where I am. :-)

In sunny California a few miles east of the Golden Gate Bridge (also known as San Francisco).
hammon, January 30, 2007; 1:34 PM

I live-in in Motown, aka Hockeytown aka the Motor City, well the metro area around Detroit anyway. The only major US city that can say it has a Canadian City due south...a great bar bet question...look at a map and you will see that Windsor, Ontario, Canada is due south of Detroit. Tons of great music types live or are from here.

I'm from (and still residing in) beautiful San Diego, California, which lies along the west coast about 15 miles north of the US/Mexico Border. Home sweet home.
American.Nightmare, January 30, 2007; 4:42 PM

I live next to the airport near Amsterdam. The weather is even worse here than in Austria.
There were times I feared the damp weather would ruin my record sleeves. These were the
days I was trading records with Roger in Brugge (hi Rog! How are you doing?).

I live in England and am often referred to as 'Northerners' by those who live south of Watford Gap. No...that is not a hole in the ground. I live in a city called Wakefield but I was born in Reading, Berkshire. I spent the large part of my life, at the moment in a Northern industrial town called Oldham. And its frikkin' cold here also, that's if its not wet!
TheSaint.786, January 30, 2007; 6:14 PM

Redditch, England ...
... where? oh, about 15 miles due south of Birmingham (central England).
As for weather ... we haven't had a winter this year and last summer was nice and hot but I can't recommend the place for visitor attractions (though Stratford upon Avon - birthplace of a play-wright whose name I can't recall - and Warwick are within easy commuting distance).
Oh, and what's supposed to be the busiest stretch of motorway in Europe is also within easy commuting distance (if that's not an oxymoron!)

Greets from St. Pauli, the temporarily home of the well-known fab four (at former Star Club, Grosse Freiheit) as well as the famous Reeperbahn which are all located in Hamburg, Germany

I'm from Naples, a small city in Florida, and still live there. It's a very nice city, but it tends to be a little bit too expensive. I will be moving away to attend law school, but plan on moving back in a few years to practice. Like the old cliche goes, "There's no place like home." Now I think I'll go outside and enjoy some warm weather.

Hi there, I'm from Arnhem in the Netherlands.
I live very close to the bridge that was too far...
WimArnhem, January 30, 2007; 7:33 PM

This is a very nice thread and it's surprising to see some varied locations there, though -in case I haven't skipped anything- we're all Europe (including myself)/North America here.
To Jeremy: as you said "There's no place like home." -- I've just finished playing A Guide For The Married Man some moments ago !

North-West of Germany.
Not too far away from the North Sea coast and the Dutch border.
Christian.Quatremain, February 19, 2007; 4:31 AM

Lived my whole around Bremen, Germany (To all Dutch guys: Don´t be too sad about the Ajax defeat earlier this evening, but Werder rules !).
Moved to a cluster of houses near Freiburg, Germany some two weeks ago. Female, you know ... ;o).
But the whole bunch of scores made it safely to be enjoyed again and again and again ...
Best to you all,
Dirk
P.S.: Eh, that´s not exactly soundtrack-related, but does anyone know about some of the old classical Varèse-CDs and where to get one ?
zomb, February 14, 2007; 7:14 PM

Well, Dirk, as a true soundtrack lover you will have to decide between your score collection and
the female that lured you away from the North into the South of Germany. ;-)
Are you aware, that you broke the North German triangle formed by mister_gs, you and me?
Christian.Quatremain, February 18, 2007; 6:17 AM

From San Francisco, California. We just had a small earthquake this evening. Listening to John Barry's Petulia helped me shake my gotta-get-out-of-this-place feeling. Does anybody have a special liking for a soundtrack he or she associates with their own town as used as a location for a film? For example, Petulia is much more my idea of S.F. than Schifrin's Dirty Harry. Or, for example, Barry's OHMSS soundtrack for Bern, Switzerland or something by Roy Budd for Birmingham?
sfs, March 2, 2007; 6:48 AM
