Godfather Theme!

People,

I watched The God Father Pt III last night and there is a scene where Michael Corleone is throwing a party in honour of his son's first opera.
At the party his son presents his father a gift in the form of a song which he palys on a guitar.
Its basically the infamous theme tune of the Godfather but in this context it has some wonderfull lyrics to it.
It was such an amzing song its been stuck in my head! and i think i might go insane if i dont find it!!!

What is the title of this tune?!

Al Martino had a big hit with the vocal version of the Godfather theme.

There's a few songs throughout The Godfather films ie The Music from Across the Way & Love Said Goodbye, but ur referring to Speak Sofly Love, I think. Every singer has recorded it from Andy Williams to Matt Monro. You should have no trouble finding it!!

The Al Martino vocal from The Godfather was the song "I Have But One Heart" which pre-dates the movie by many years (e.g. I have a Dean Martin recording of the song from 1962).

The love theme from The Godfather became the song: "Speak Softly Love" and there were many versions of this by all of the popular - incl. Al Martino - (and some not so popular) singers of the early 1970's.

Al Martino features on the OST of Godfather III singing "To Each His Own" but this again pre-dates the movie. There is also a vocal by Harry Connick, Jr. of a song called "Promise Me You'll Remember" referred to as "Love Theme from The Godfather III", music by Carmine Coppola, lyrics by John Bettis - again, though, not the "infamous theme tune".

It's been years since I saw the movie - I have the DVD (and CD score) so if you can indicate the timing or chapter in the movie I'll give it a play to see if the song appears on the score CD.

Hello Tanny,

You are referring to "BRUCIA LA TERRA", the Godfather Love Theme : sicilian lyrics by
Giuseppe Rinaldi (EMI Publishing Italy) and music by Nino Rota.

Like you I had trouble in finding that recording so I recorded my own version and have
included it in my album HOUSE OF BLUE. Brucia La Terra is track 7. I sing it in sicilian and I
in english (my translation) ...I am Italian and a singer by the way ;-)
If you want to listen to a sample of my version (it's gorgeous) go to: www.lupamusic.com
and follow the links for CDs....

Keep me posted.
All the best
