James Bond The Hits (London Pops Orchestra)
I purchased this in cassette form about ten years ago. I've been hunting around to see if there was ever a CD version released as my tape has deteriorated immensely. I couldn't find this on amazon, so if someone could point me in the right direction as far as where to find it, that would be great!
Thanks!

There have been many releases (on CD) of cover versions of the 007 movie themes - in many cases they are the same recordings but given a different name for the orchestra (sometimes the odd track may be a different version). I stopped buying these releases several years ago when I found that, more often than not, I had purchased the same recordings just under a different name (of orchestra).
Can you provide any further details from the cassette (e.g. label, etc., track listing - i.e. which movies are included - GoldenEye/Tomorrow Never Dies - yes/no?)
Examples of the CD releases I have purchased over the years are:
Stirred Not Shaken - Moneypenny Singers - Bianco(BIA4135)
James Bond Themes - Secret Service Orchestra - Disky(DC886062)
The James Bond Themes - not credited* - e2/MCPS(ETDCD054)
Bond, James Bond - not credited* - Hallmark(311672)
Diamonds Are Forever . Great James Bond Movie Themes - not credited* - Conifer(TQ203)
* no longer owned but I recall that some of the names were:
The Q Orchestra or The London Theatre Orchestra
however many of the tracks (up to and including All Time High (Octopussy)) were previously released on a vinyl LP in the mid 1980s under the name of the Nicky North Orhestra
Hence I expect that your "London Pops Orchestra" is just another one of these releases.
I apologise if I'm completely off-track here.

A View To A Kill
Diamonds Are Forever
For Your Eyes Only
From Russia With Love
Goldfinger
Live And Let Die
Moonraker
Octopussy
The James Bond Theme
The Living Daylights (not a cover, done by A-ha I believe)
The Spy Who Loved Me
You Only Live Twice
By the way, you're not rambling or way off topic, I like hearing a little Bond history :D. Thanks again!

Hi derail,
You are kind but I now think I was on the wrong track! The London Pops Orchestra - it would appear - is a fully legitimate orchestra with a strong track record (I tried Google and found many responses), unlike the changing-name orchestra on the CDs I own and have owned.
That said, my Google search leads me to believe that no CD of their JB007 themes is available ... other film and stage themes, yes but not Bond. This may be for various reasons such as the programme length is too short and it is not worthwhile recording a few extra tracks (of the newer movies' themes), especially given the numerous other cover versions available.
I would suggest that your reference to the theme song of The Living Daylights being performed by a-ha is questionable given the usual problems over licensing music. The again, perhaps it was a cover version performed by them with the London Pops Orchestra!
Best of luck in your search.

I may have an answer to your question. I happen to have a copy of the "Roland Shaw Orchestra" album titled "The James Bond Thrillers".
the list of songs is: 007 Theme, Dr No's Fantasy, From Russia with love, Girls Trouble, The Golden Horn, The James Bond Theme, Leila Dances, Twisting with James
Also have the "Goldfinger" album.
Both of these are on Reel to Reel Tape, which I have converted to digital format (mp3)
Contact me if you would like a copy. Hope that helps.
