Hi David,

I got a huge bunch of soundtracks yesterday, among them a couple of Brian Tyler scores that I have begun with to 'listen off' the pile. ;-)

PAPARAZZI - Brian Tyler
ANNAPOLIS - Brian Tyler
FRAILTY - Brian Tyler

Cannot say too much about them yet, just not enough playing time yet.

I'm listening to a 4 track 7" EP featuring music from the late 60's Japanese period piece called JIGOKUHEN, probably more better known by its english title "Portrait of Hell" (recently released on DVD in the US by AnimeEigo). The music to this Toho film was done by Yasushi Akutagawa. This beautiful release (and a very rare find indeed) comes in a sturdy full-color cardboard sleeve with many pics from the film! This copy I have is even a white label promo!

Also in heavy rotation is the bonus CD included with the Japanese Hotwax book "Queen of Japanese Movie". The CD is the "Sound File" to the early 70's Meiko Kaji film "Stray Cat Rock: Sex Hunter". I've been waiting for this CD for a long time! And even though it was worth the wait, I do have some minor gripes however. My main complaint is that the CD is missing the title version of the theme music, although there are some variants of said theme that appear in other parts of the film that are included. It is also missing the "Toho Mark" music, and ques themselves are in a skewed order (for instance the "end mark" music is the first track?!). But all in all I say get this book/cd combo now! Dusty Groves does have it in stock.

Today I've begun with two light scores, Zimmer's THE HOLIDAY and Westlake's MISS POTTER. Nice music.

Then I've tasted a real heavyweight: Young's AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS. And right now I'm being transported by John Tavener's CHILDREN OF MEN.

Howard's BLOOD DIAMOND and Newman's THE GOOD GERMAN are waiting their turn...

Best regards,
Angel

Up next in the car after disc 2 of Man From UNCLE Vol 1 is probably another spin for Brannigan. Unless of course my missing in action SAE shipment shows up 3 weeks since shipment from VA to Motown. The 5 cds missing in action are:
