Topkapi - true stereo LP?
Just a short question: Can anybody who owns the original stereo LP of "Topkapi" tell me, if this score was recorded in stereo, or if the score has been re-channeled for release on United Artists Records.
I'm asking this, as the Sirius CD re-issue sounds very mono to me. Any help would be very appreciated.
Many thanks.

Hi,
I have The United Artists Stereo UAS 5118 LP. It doesn't say so on the cover, but I would also
say that it was recorded in mono and later electronically reprocessed to give a simulated stereo
effect. Nowhere can you hear a bouzouki on the right and a piano on the left so to speak. On
the track 'The Searchlight' it almost sounds like the music is channeled from right to left in the
beginning, but in general it's just a faint echo that makes it 'stereo'. I don't think a real stereo
recording was ever made.

Many thanks for the confirmation.
