Good friends,

When watching television sometimes I hear the most wonderfull jazz-rock guitar solo's passing by... can anybody give me some soundtracks which I must have heard or should hear?

A majority of Pat Metheny's non-soundtrack albums are recommended too. I have I think 15 or so titles, the man's simply amazing.

You can find an excellent guitar theme in the soundtrack to COOL HAND LUKE, by Lalo Schifrin. I also remember some good stuff played by Tommy Tedesco in John Williams' THE RIVER.

Regarding Pat Metheny, have you listen to Jerry Goldsmith's UNDER FIRE? There you can find some terrific guitar playing by Metheny himself.

EMMA'S WAR, composed by the other John Williams (not the famous film composer, but the guitar player) is also a beautiful guitar score.

There are many more, but now I can only remember these.

Guitar on the Cool Hand Luke score performed by jazz legend Al Viola. Performs regularly in the Los Angeles area.

Check out his website and say hello to a legend in music and uncredited contributor on hundreds of American film scores.

Mundell Lowe is another great. Listen to (Satan In High Heels) if you want to hear some quality jazz scoring.

Say hello to Mundell...

And a nod of the hat towards the great Alessandro Allessandroni.
