BACK COVERS INCLUDED IN SC's DATABASE
It's me again u guys! (don't u dare roll those glaring eyes on me please)
As I was browsing and searching for some cd titles, it occurred to me like a zapping from Zeus, wouldn't be great if the backcovers were included in SC's database as well in addition to the track listings like it is done with DRG's & Varese's database?
It really would be a nice added feature if possible, or is it too late?
I mean Soundtrack Collector seems to be such an ever growing extensive film music 'search engine' database, used and trusted by so many people, and having the back covers of all the listings in addition to the front covers would be such an asset and a neat feature.

I have felt that if a person needed both a front and back cover of a CD then maybe they ought to buy it. Yeah, I know some CDs are out of print...My experience from people who contact me via this site is, can I "give" them "high res" cover scans because they got the MP3s somewhere and now want to recreate the CD. I'm in favor of NOT putting rear covers up.
There are soundtrack site (Varese) that make it so that you can not just right click and save the images they show. Many DVD sites are that way too. I think Ton has done a great service by allowing people to see the front cover and that should be enough. This site also offers track listings and track length, so what important information is to be gained by adding the rear?

Waste of time. I submitted an LP cover to this site a year ago and it still isn't included on the site. So what chance a CD back cover? It would probably take forever to appear on here.

Well you do have a good point there Mark... SC's services are indeed great but I guess it would be more complete for the sake of reference to have both sides of a particular soundtrack release, and since other sites like Varese make it impossible to download the front and back covers, perhaps the same could be done in SC's database by making the covers impossible to download (especially the back cover) to deter people from making complete soundtrack replicas and perhaps selling them.
It was just a thought that occurred to me since this other person in another forum who is doing film music research was asking for back cover information and mentioned the fact about not being able to find back covers of particular soundtracks.

David, perhaps the LP cover you submitted was too small. There are some guidelines in order to submit pictures which are listed here in SC.

Yes, I though of that as well David and certainly I don't want the SC team to wither away from exhaustion and money worries but it would make the listings more complete and also might prevent wrong track entries.

When using Mozilla/SeaMonkey internet browser you just have to deactivate one option in the java-script management to download artworks from Varese's website.

No, serifiot, the image of the LP cover I submitted was quite good definition. I haven't got a digital camera myself, so I couldn't photograph my actual LP cover, but a couple of years ago, I found a high resolution image of the same cover on eBay and that was the one I uploaded. Of course, an LP cover is too big for my A4 flat bed scanner to handle.

I think it would be a good idea (in the future). I just like to look at the back covers to get an idea how the CD looks like or just because I want to see the back cover art.

Recordings with two scores featuring cover art from each film on individual sides of the recording would warrant scans of both sides.
Such as... Le Grande Blond Avec Une Chaussure Noire/Salut L'Artiste (Deesse DDLX77/ Vladimir Cosma) which has artwork for each film on each side on the LP jacket.
Same goes for Vado L'Ammazzo E Torno/Ammazzali Tutte E Torno (Beat Records CR5/Francesco DeMasi).
Or... Reincarnation Of Peter Proud/Islands In The Stream (Monogram JG7711/Jerry Goldsmith.
As well as others I cannot think of right now.

Well, in a way it would be nice to have the back covers here, but I doubt whether the increased
labour, time, money and webspace would be worth it.
As for me, I am totally satisfied with small front pics and tracklists.
