Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown

Ciao...

Does anyone know if the Ariola cd release has more music tracks than the 7 music tracks found on the Milan Records release wih label #CD CH 604 listed here in SC's database?

Also, do the Spanish Karonte JMBSP510 & US Silva America 1203 releases again listed here in SC have the same track listings as the Milan release mentioned?

Unfortunately, no pictures nor any track listings have been provided for these releases mentioned in SC's database except for the Milan release.

And one more thing... why is this Ariola cd so hard to find? I have looked everywhere on the net.
It seems only one SC member owns it. Haven't other SC members who are living in Spain seen this one in any retail store there?

Any input would be appreciated as always!

Hi Serifiot!

The Karonte release has got the same tracks from "Women on the verge..." than the Milan release. You can check it now that I've submitted the track listing to Karonte's "Almodóvar Early Films".

As for the Ariola release, I don't know if a Compact Disc exists, but I'm sure a LP was released by Ariola some years ago (It's possible that a CD were released too). In fact, I have got the LP in my collection. At this moment the LP is not in my house and I can't check the exact release date.

Anyway, the most complete release to date is that of Karonte. It features music from four Almodóvar films, and "Matador" includes one more track than the Milan release. I don't know the Silva release, but I think the contents are the same as the Karonte.

I hope to have been of help. Best regards,
Angel

Hi Angel,

Now that we both have submitted complete track listings for these various Bonezzi releases, the only mystery left is Ariola. I wonder if this Ariola release listed here in SC's database as a CD was meant to be listed as an LP since you mentioned that you have the LP Ariola version in your collection which of course is not included in the database.

PS

When you get the chance Angel, please submit the Ariola LP version in the database including the track listings and if possible a picture for the Ariola LP and the Karonte CD as well.

David... where's your comment? In any case, I just received an email from a Spanish retailer and I was told that they do not remember anything about such an Ariola release. Their word is not a definite answer of course and surely we will have are eyes wide open for this mysterious cd.

Cheers!

Ok seri, no idea where my last comment went, but I've just finished a decent hardcore
research and turned up the following snippets:

- A spanish radio station (Radio3) has it on an ancient play list.
- The german press book for Habla Con Elle names it by the way.
- If the CD gets mentioned, it's referred to as released in 1992, not 1994.
- There's an Almodovar forum on the web, perhaps they know more:
http://almodovar.tribe.net/
- Rottentomatoes.com refers to it as "Authorized for Spain to Ediciones Musicales BMG/Ariola
S.A"
- A specialised german site - www.almodovarlandia.com/ - doesn't list such a release.

That's all for the moment!

David

PS: If the CD really exists, it must be a similar case like Morricone's "Ripley's Game" - a very
(!) limited edition of some hundred copies, released in one limited territory only.

Very interesting!...

I'll post whatever leads I can find here myself in this thread.

As far as the radio station mentioned having it on one of their old playlists... the CD then probably does exist unless of course it was the LP version they used (most probably) which was previously referred to by Angel.

PS

Just called this record shop which specializes in soundtracks and was told by one of the employees (he did seem kind of annoyed) that it was indeed once circulating some time ago both on LP and CD even though they haven't seen a copy.

I'm still skeptical... but damn it, there must have been a CD release back im 1988 when the movie was released or a bit later(?), at least in Europe, since this particular Almodovar film from what I remember was a raving success, even in the US.

According to SC's database, I'm suprised only one person has it in their collection.
