The Story of Star Wars vintage vinyl Question????

I recently came across a mint condition print of The Story of Star Wars record album. The record label is Buena Vista Records. This label on the record looks totally different than all of the ones I've seen so far on the net. I truely think this is an original copy. If anyone can fill me in about the different prints that were made and a possible value for this album, it would be much appreciated.

I would suspect that "story" albums of this sort (which are basically the actual soundtrack of the movie....dialogue and all) have very little value these days.

The Story Of Star Wars LP was originally released on 20th Century Records back in August 1977. By 1983 - upon the release of Return Of The Jedi, the complete "Story Of...." collection was re-issued on Buena Vista (Disney).

This was the last release of The Story Of Star Wars on vinyl and is a rarer example of these story-teling LP's. There were other story discs in an abbreviated with poorly peformed voice acting and poorly scripted dialogue opposed to the wooden Lucas dialogue and available via Buena Vista (US/Canada) and the Star Wars collection was no exception.

Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back - Return Of The Jedi - Droid World - Planet of the Hoojibs - Rebel Mission to Ord Mantell - The Ewoks Join The Fight

Only Rebel Mission to Ord Mantell was available as a 12" Maxi disc. All other subsequent releases were on 7" and cassette. They were however available on the label "Rainbow"; in mainland Europe and the UK - with the exception of the Rebel Mission title.

Hope this helps!!!

PS: I think that a current value (according to Star Wars collectors) of the Buena Vista label are around $20-30. They are more common in the US yet scarce in the UK. Pending that it has the story booklet on the gatefold sleeve.

I have a still shrink wrapped NUMBERED-#299 I think- edition of the "photo" disk that had R2 & C3PO on the vinyl, that I won from the Star Wars Fan club back in the '80s. Is this more valuable?

I have a similar question as well if anyone could help. I have a test pressing of said Story of Star Wars. Any value to that?

I happen to have a copy of the original soundtrack for "The Story of Star Wars" complete with booklet still attached to the inside cover. After reading your posts about the recording label, and my copy is one from the 20th Century label. It still has the original sleeve with the 20th Century Logo on it. I wonder if this would be worth more than the Buena Vista label version is.
