Question

...a third category?

Hello!

I understand that SC's forum is basically devoted to anything regarding a favorite passion of ours which of course is film music but perhaps a third category besides the categories 'General Questions' & 'Looking for a soundtrack' could be added by our hosts which will be open to other topics we might like to bring up and discuss not necessarily pertaining to film music.

This is just a constructive thought on my part for my favorite soundtrack website and really stems from the awful and deplorable news I can't help watching all over television regarding the massacre on the campus of Virginia Tech.

Very sad!

I apologize if I might seem to be out of place but I just can't help keeping silent to this tragic and uncalled-for incident.

My deepest condolences to all the victims' families!

I, too, am deeply saddened by the events that took place at VT today. However, I like to visit this forum to talk about and learn about soundtracks, not to talk and learn about world news events. There are countless other sites where people can chat and post and vent about countless other topics, but I'd appreciate it if this site (and its contributors) remained devoted to the discussion of film music and leave the horrible and depressing world news coverage to CNN.

Well said, Josh.

If a person needs to say something they should talk it out.

Such a crazy freaked out thing. American insanity is like nothing else. People in this country are more stressed these days than ever before. High rent, low wages, corrupt government that doesn't give a damn yet pretends to care so much. Too much hate, not enough love. Disrespect all around. Conniving media who exploit people to no end during their darkest hours.

Why not broaden discussion on this forum to anything a person needs to talk to his fellow human beings about?

I don't know how it is in other parts of the world but here most everyone has been personally touched by insane violence in one way or another. Myself, I once knew a guy in Los Angeles whose wife was raped and murdered. A girl I went to high school with was abducted, raped and murdered along with her infant baby. They found her car in the parking lot of the Catholic gradeschool I attended as a kid.

It's mind numbing and damaging to good decent sensibilities.

I agree, this is a soundtrack website, not for world news. Keep it for music, not world events. 100's of other websites and chat rooms for that sort of thing.

I can't imagine anyone not being shocked and saddened by this or the many other horrors that
assault us almost daily. But I agree there are other forums to voice our rage or sorrow. This is a
soundtrack site; a respite from the other stuff and I enjoy it on that level.

No offence to anyone personally touched by tragedy or just sympathetic to someone else's
suffering (as I like to think we all are).

I guess we'll all have to wait until the film version comes out and the soundtrack is included in the database.
