Scores That Invoke The Deepest Feelings Or Fear…

I collect many "horror" scores and wonder what you as collectors find to be the best. gets under your skin, makes you stay awake at night or gives the chills. i feel in my collection that the "the omen" by goldsmith does have the strongest effect for me.

once i made a complilation of the four films, it was just wrong.

repent.

it doesn't even need to be a "horror" score that makes you crawl could be a disney film...

and the other reason for me is to add to my collection from your suggestions, can never have too many scores...

thanks,
happyevil

Just yesterday I picked up a copy of "Cannibal Holocaust" and can't wait to give 'er a whirl!

"Experiment In Terror" has some great moody pieces. "Jack The Ripper" (Rugolo/ McHugh) has a nice sweet creepy feeling to it.

"Maniac" (Jay Chattaway) Might upset the neighbors but what the hell, that's their problem. As a matter of fact I have an old recording entitled "Music To Scare Hell Out Of The Neighbors".

"It's Alive 2" (Bernard Herrmann) A more fullfilling experience couldn't be found in church.

"Buoi Omega" (Goblin) I recently got ahold of yet have not listened to yet. Looks damn promising.

"Night Of The Living Dead (Romero version) featuring cues originally composed for "Teenagers From Outer Space" and "The Hidious Sun Demon" makes for a beautiful and fullfilling evening at home.

I could ramble on for hours but I'm sort of tired from working the late shift at the morgue so I'll leave you now with good riddance.

All scores noted are great but none of these will make me wide eyed and running aroung the house in fear.

I dont' know!

My mind is blank.

''The Omen'' is a damn good film score and probably the most disturbing film score I can think of for obvious reasons but it has already been mentioned by ms./mrs./mr. 666.

I don't think that any film score by itself can keep me up all night.

How about driving on a deserted cross country road on a cold and moonless pitch black night turning the car headlights on & off while playing "The Omen"?

That my do it!

PS

Carl Zittrer's music is quite eerie.

By the way, SC lists 1974's ''Dead Dream'' as one of Zittrer's unreleased scores... it is DEATHDREAM or WHEN ANDY CAME HOME or DEAD OF NIGHT. (Ton W. over?!)

This movie scared me shitless as a youngster... and in away... nevermind.

Jerry Goldsmith's "Poltergeist". Gets me every time.

PET SEMATARY by Elliot Goldenthal...CREEPY!

Also, Goblin's score for SUSPIRIA contains some of the most wonderfully unsettling and frightening music I've ever heard. One of my all-time faves.

Suspiria by Goblin. That has some wonderfully creepy music.

Hans Zimmer's score to Hannibal even though Zimmer himself said playfully that it was the best romantic comedy score he's ever wrote. Let My Home Be My Gallows is chilling.

The Ring score by Hans Zimmer is really creepy, especially the last track, "Television". Gets me eveytime.
I can also sugest "Wendigo" by Michelle DiBucci. Very creepy!
And "Candyman" by Philip Glass.
