Hello,

I have about 850 film scores But, Only own around 8 DVD's. I think the reason is I love music. I can listen to music all the time, over and over again and never get tired of it. Watching the same movie over and over again is hard for me to do.

850!!! I feel so small with my little 50 collection. I get lost in the emotion of the music and the film so I can watch a film (especially the Lord of the Rings trilogy) time and time again. Thanks for your reply.

While I can't say precisely (I just don't have it in me to get an accurate count), I think that out of my 400+ scores, I have at least 80-85% of them on DVD - I'll let you do the math! :)

2500+ scores and eerm only 50 DVDs. ;D

the score comes before the movie. so the half of all the movies I ever saw I discovered through the score first. I only buy DVDs when I really love the movie and wanna watch is more than 3 times. :)

but what about collectors with over 4k scores? o.O

1701's response pretty much is what I would have said.

My ratio is probably like 700 soundtrack CDs and about 50 DVDs. However, 15-20 of my DVD sets were almost exclusively bought for the single reason that they either included a soundtrack CD or an isolated music track as a special feature.

A recent random sample of my soundtrack collection also showed that I have seen around 55% of the movies I have soundtrack CDs for.

6611 soundtracks, 1183 films on DVD and laserdisc. There are however a number of films from wich I do not have the soundtrack.
I know, the hobby got a little out of control....

I've had a bit of an preoccupation with the 1935 film "Bride Of Frankenstein" since purchasing a 16mm print back in '86.

Overjoyed was I to come across a complete re-recording of the Franz Waxman score (Silva Records).

Aprox. 5600+ soundtrack CDs and aprox. 3500+ DVDs. This does not include my dwindling LD collection or my now passé VHS collection.

Is anyone a database specialist that can combine my two flat databases so that I can cross reference the films with the scores? :)

I have around 3000 soundtrack cd's and about 300 dvd's, so we are looking at a 10:1 ratio.

While I have only a handful of DVDs, I'm about to reach the amount of 1.200 soundtracks. There are still a lot of movies to discover since I've seen about 50 % of the movies to which I own a score.

There's something else I'd like to mention. Almost everywhere I go on SC database, Sijbold Tonkens has already "been" there. I always wonder (and respectfully admire, of course!) how many beautiful scores he has, especially within the italian section. I hope one day he'll open kind of a museum or sth. like that. The Netherlands are not that far away, so it'll be in reach for me. Marvellous!
