Question

Someone is making a fortune from these bootlegs!

Has anyone seen there seems to be an enomous call for this CD. The sellers are all claming that these are genuine, factory pressed, not bootlegs!!!

Here's a FEW and there have been many others sold in recent weeks. Who's making these. Anyone know? I see they're not listed in the release section.

Best,

Al

I know this has been debated to death, but I personally have no problems with purchasing a rare older film score that has never had an official release. Personally "Teen Wolf" is not something that would interest me, but the chances of it seeing an official release with those extended tracks are likely not going to happen.

I have a lot of gems in my collection that I received this way. :)

Wow, I couldn't agree more!

Actually, none of the sellers make any claim as to it not being a bootleg. They merely state that it is a factory-pressed CD, not a CD-R. As we all know, even factory-pressed CDs can be bootlegs (a la the 'chameleon' record label known as Hurricane Records that constantly produces factory-pressed bootleg CDs). I think that buyers must be responsible to do their own research as to whether or not a particular release is a bootleg or not, because obviously the seller's just looking to make a buck, regardless of the legality of their actions. And some buyers, in some cases, may not care whether or not they're buying a bootleg...they're just happy to have the music on CD. I admit that in several cases I have fit into that category, but each time I was well aware that I was buying a bootleg, so I didn't feel like I got scammed or anything. The only exceptions were my first few purchases from Monsters In Motion (all ordered at the same time), many years ago, when I expected to get official, pressed CDs and received bootleg CD-Rs instead. I should've done my homework before ordering, but at least they let me return the items for full refund. Bottom line is: CAVEAT EMPTOR!

What the hell is it that W.C. would say from time to time? Never give a sucker an even break?

What pisses me off is when I purchase an official cd soundtrack film score that has been out of print and is rare and pay a bundle to only receive a f...en counterfeit/pirate CD-R with horrible photocopied replicas of the inlays.

So called bootlegs of unreleased film scores or film scores which have received some type of a release with extended film music otherwise unavailable 'officially', does not bother me.

And NEVER get into a bidding war over a known fake/bootleg/cd-r/whatever since as soon as you fork over your loot they will put up another one just like it for sale.

df,

I agree that is usually the case, but I can think of one exception from my personal experience: the 'Reflex Records' edition of the score and songs from FRIGHT NIGHT. I got that on eBay several years back and have never seen another copy for sale before or since. However, I admit, there are plenty of other FRIGHT NIGHT boots floating around...
