The Burmese Harp: any re-issue as part of other disc?
Hi All,
Having searched here, I see that the soundtrack disc is limited to an Italian EP from '58 (I am sure that's easy to find these days..!!)
The question then: has anyone come across any Japanese compilation that possibly includes the songs/music from 'Burmese Harp'?
Perhaps as a part of a bigger retrospective of older Japanese film music?
I know I am reaching here, but any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Claus.

Hello Claus,
I have a Toho Records LP "World of Akira Ifukube" (AX-8082) 1977 (in mono) that contains
one track from the film.
I have another Japanese LP that is a promo sampler for a series of LP's of Japanese Filmmusic
from 1946~77 (Victor TLP-636) that contains another track. If you are interested I can clock
the duration as none is mentioned. Tracktitles are in Japanese but merely state 'Harp of
Burma'.
Hope this was of any help.
Greetings,
Chris

A good help for such questions is Larry' s godzillamonstermusic-homepage.
You will find the Burmese Harp included in the following CDs:
http://www.godzillamonstermusic.com/I81189.htm
- VPCD-81189
- Track 37 - 46
- should be still available in Japan
http://www.godzillamonstermusic.com/I5055.htm
- SLCS-5055
- Track 1 (~ 11min.)
- out-of-print
I hope this answer was helpful.

Hi Claus!
This CD here has one track from Harp of Burma:
http://www.hmv.co.jp/product/detail/323070
This one seems to have 3 tracks:
http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E4%BC%8A%E7%A6%8F%E9%83%A8%E6%98%AD-%E6%98%A0%E7%94%BB%E9%9F%B3%E6%A5%BD%E9%81%B8%E9%9B%86/dp/tracks/B00003ZKXG/ref=dp_tracks_all_1/249-5049762-0197908?ie=UTF8&qid=1179589755&sr=1-6#disc_1
This one I'm not sure of, but the title "Burmese Harp" does appear in the track listing. This CD is called "Unreleased Music from Nikkatsu Films":
http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E6%9C%AA%E7%99%BA%E8%A1%A8%E6%98%A0%E7%94%BB%E9%9F%B3%E6%A5%BD%E5%85%A8%E9%9B%86%E6%97%A5%E6%B4%BB%E7%B7%A8-%E3%82%B5%E3%83%B3%E3%83%88%E3%83%A9/dp/B00005H0JW/ref=sr_1_7/249-5049762-0197908?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1179590417&sr=1-7
Sorry for the size of the links but thats what I get when I cut and paste them. I hope this helps!

Actually I think that the CD Jurgen mentioned above, VPCD-81189 is the same CD as the last link I posted. The track I saw called Burmese Harp is actually #37 and there are only 46 tracks on the disc. According to the Amazon jp webpage they still have two copies in stock!

Buy it quick!
I just bought one of the two copies on Amazon Japan. I didn't have this CD, and as fan of all thinks Nikkatsu I had to pick one up!

OK, now I'm sure this is the CD as the label is listed as VAP on the Amazon page. I didn't see this before.

I just noticed that someone bought the other copy. It now says it will take 1-2 weeks to get another. I noticed that all the other volumes are still available also, so hopefully all are still in print.

Well, I am really glad I joined up here! :-)
A big THANK YOU to everyone for their generous help with the pursuit of 'the elusive Harp'
Eric, I went to the site and got the last copy of the 46-track disc right away; who knows if they will get any more.
Now I am just waiting to get it......
Thanks again,
Claus.
