Question

Rarest of vinyls?

On these days were many rare soundtracks are being released in limited edition or expanded releases, which you consider are the rarest of vinyls still not released?

I would say that one of these is 'Andromeda Strain', but I saw a limited edition on eBay, although is also hard to tell if that is an official release. Any other soundtrack on vinyl?

Maybe not the rarest, but rare are these;

The Sailor who fell from Garce with the Sea (Johnny Mandel) on Polydor Japan
Sortie de Secours (Philippe Sarde), not a very interesting score though.
Shout at the Devil (Maurice Jarre), very good score
Enola Gay (Maurice Jarre)
Gandhi (George Fenton)
La Trace (Nicola Piovani)
Civilta' del Mediterraneo (Bruno Nicolai)
Nicholas and Alexandra (R.R. Bennett), why was this masterpiece never officially
released?????
Yanks (R.R. Bennett)
Billion Dollar Brain (R.R. Bennett)
etc. etc.

Do you mean the recent vinyl recordings such as the stuff on Cinedelic?

Another I'm thinking of is the recording pressed about 6 years ago for Deathline (aka Raw Meat).

It goes back years. The old radio station promo recordings sent to advertise a film.

I remember going to movie theatres and while waiting for the film to begin hearing music from the film playing. Promotional recordings that some stupid schlub theatre manager probably tossed in the trash after the films run.

I have some old CBS EZ cue LP's made long before any of the Twilight Zone scores were released commerially containing Goldsmith cues and Fred Steiner, Nathan Van Cleve, Bernard Herrmann and others. I don't know what the story on those are although I consider them treasure.

Lost vinyl, a beautiful thing. Time was, junk stores were the place to go for all that happy horseshit. Nowadays, nothing but trash in those places.
