New from GDM Music
17-May-2006 - GDM Music in Italy keeps on releasing the scores from famous Italian composers for the Italian classics. This month again three releases of which the first one is Detenuto In Attesa Di Giudizio (1970). It's the story of Giuseppe Di Noi, an Italian land surveyor who has lived in Sweden for the past seven years, and who goes to his native country with his Swedish wife and children for his holidays. At the border he is however jailed for no apparent reason. He thus begins a nightmarish kafkian experience while he's moved from one prison to another, subject to any humiliation and violence. The score is by Carlo Rustichelli, and was conducted by Bruno Nicolai.
And two releases of Ennio Morricone! The first one is Amanti D'Oltretomba (1965)(Nightmare Castle), one of those classic Italian horror movies. This time about a sadistic count, who tortures and murders his unfaithful wife and her lover, then removes their hearts from their bodies. Years later, the count remarries and the new wife experiences nightmares and hauntings. The ghosts of the slain return to exact their bloody revenge, until their hearts are destroyed.
Morricone's second one is Gente Di Rispetto (1975), with 9 previously unreleased tracks. It's the story of a female school teacher, who is implicated in a murder in a Sicilian town only hours after her arrival. The dead man insulted her on the bus on the way into town. As the mystery unfolds, it becomes clear that the town is hiding some very sinister secrets.
