The Queen gets music by Desplat
15-Aug-2006 - French composer Alexandre Desplat has provided the score for Stephen Frears' upcoming drama The Queen, starring Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. The film has been described as an intimate behind the scenes glimpse at the interaction between HM Elizabeth II and Prime Minister Tony Blair during their struggle, following the death of Diana. Michael Sheen stars as Tony Blair, and James Cromwell does the part of Prince Philip. Originally, Nathan Larson, who scored Frears' previous film Dirty Pretty Things, was involved in the project but he decided to withdraw from the film.

Alexandre Desplat also has the scores for The Painted Veil (John Curran's romantic drama starring Naomi Watts and Edward Norton) and Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium (starring Dustin Hoffman), in the pipeline.
