Alexandre Desplat's The Queen
10-Oct-2006 - Milan Records has released an again beautiful score by Alexandre Desplat for the masterfully directed film The Queen. The film offers an intimate behind the scenes glimpse at the interaction between HM Elizabeth II and Prime Minister Tony Blair during their struggle following the death of Princess Diana. Talking about his collaboration with Alexandre Desplat, director Stephen Frears had only one word: "heaven." Desplat's score opens with a very orchestral and cinematic theme in the tradition of classical Hollywood. The score becomes more and more intimate with the introduction of the mandolin and the piano that mixed together bring an ambigous feeling of lightness but also tension in cues such as People's Princess I and II.
