New from Prometheus
23-Dec-2006 - Prometheus Records in Belgium surprises us with three new releases. The first one is a double one. Together one one CD, Georges Delerue's music for Platoon and Salvador. The content is the same as for the 1995 issue, but the music is completely remastered and the CD has new cover artwork. The second one is the long out-of-print King Solomon's Mines, the story of Allan Quatermain (Richard Chamberlain), a fortune hunter who is convinced by Jesse Huston (Sharon Stone) to help her find her father, who's been lost somewhere in the African jungle during his last exploration. This exotic adventure is based in H. Rider Haggard's classic novel. Jerry Goldsmith's music is remastered for improved sound, the CD has new cover art and included are 3 brief extra tracks, totaling 4 minutes. And the third one is a real expanded release. It's the first-ever release of Basil Poledouris' complete score for Quigley Down Under. Tom Selleck stars as American cowboy archetype Matthew Quigley in Simon Wincer's outback western. Answering an advertisement placed by Australian cattle baron Elliot Marston (Alan Rickman) to come to the rugged and uncivilized Australian countryside and shoot dingoes, Quigley finds himself halfway around the world, only to find that Marston wants to exploit his talents as a sharpshooter in order to wipe out the Aborigine population. The CD has 30 tracks, of which two thirds are previously unreleased.
