John Powell scores BAFTA-nomination for Happy Feet

Prolific film composer John Powell has been nominated by the British Academy of Film & Television Arts (BAFTA) for The Anthony Asquith Award for Achievement in Film Music acknowledging his work on Happy Feet. Powell spent a weighty four years scoring, arranging and acting as musical director and musical producer for Warner Brothers' hit animated musical. Directed by George Miller, the CG-animated Happy Feet took the #1 position at the box office upon its release. In addition to his work for the score, Powell also arranged songs for Pink, Yolanda Adams, Fantasia, and Patti LaBelle on the Atlantic Records soundtrack. The winner of The Anthony Asquith Award for Achievement in Film Music will be announced at the Royal Opera House in London on Sunday, February 11, 2007.
