New from Hexacord
20-Jun-2007 - Hexacord presents two rare and very limited (only 500 copies!) releases from Italian movies from the sixties. Le Schiave Esistono Ancora (aka There Are Still Slaves In The World) is one of those films made as a result of the smash hit Mondo Cane in 1962. The movie treads a thin line between muckraking journalism and lascivious voyeurism. There's a lot of belly dancing, exoting dancing and strip tease, none of which have much to do with slavery. Teo Usuelli has written a score that fits perfectly in the movie.
The second release is Saffo, Venere Di Lesbo (aka The Warrior Empress) (1960). Top-heavy with wild action scenes and female pulchritude, this routine Italian costume adventure is set in the 7th century B.C. on the island of Lesbos, where the immortal poetess Sappho is leading a revolt against the corrupt government of Mytilene. The score by Angelo Fransesco Lavagnino is here released for the first time: a world premiere..! Both albums are very careful digitally restored and produced by Roberto Zamori.
