Film Music Gala Concert in the Vienna Concert Hall.

On November 29th, 2007, the Radio-Symphony Orchestra Vienna will perform the Film Music Gala Concert „HOLLYWOOD IN VIENNA – VIENNA IN HOLLYWOOD“ under the baton of Hollywood’s renowned conductor and film music specialist John Mauceri in the Vienna Concert Hall.

A premiere in many ways – since it is the first time that a symphonic film music concert takes place in one of the traditional Viennese Concert Halls. And it is the start of a concert series, in which John Mauceri will present that music written for the motion picture can also be challenging music and was largely influenced by Austrian composers.

Each Gala Concert will be dedicated to one of the Viennese film music composers, who worked for the dream factory Hollywood, such as Max Steiner, Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Ernest Toch, Ernest Gold and Hans Julius Salter, amongst others.

In recognition of the 50th anniversary of Erich Wolfgang Korngold´s death on November 29th, 2007, the first “HOLLYWOOD IN VIENNA – VIENNA IN HOLLYWOOD” – Concert focuses on the distinguished former child prodigy, juvenile opera composer and later film music composer, who set the cornerstone for the development of the symphonic film score. Thus, timeless Korngold-classics will be performed, from “Kings Row” to “Robin Hood”.

Furthermore, the program will include highlights from today’s film composers: “Harry Potter”, “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” (John Williams), “Star Trek” (Jerry Goldsmith)…and more!

Tickets: available at the Box Office of the “Wiener Konzerthaus” (Monday to Friday, phone: +43-1-242 002, ticket@konzerthaus.at), and online at www.konzerthaus.at, Price: 19,00 – 75,00 Euro.
