Marcelo Zarvos' Taking Chance
10-Apr-2009 - Varèse Sarabande has released the score for Taking Chance. In recent times HBO has presented such Emmy Award-winning productions as John Adams, Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee and Recount. HBO now continues its tradition of producing acclaimed event television with Taking Chance. Based on real-life events, Lt. Col. Michael Strobl (Bacon), a volunteer military escort officer and Desert Storm vet, accompanies the body of 19-year-old slain soldier Lance Cpl. Chance Phelps back to his hometown of Dubois, Wyoming. Phelps, who had been deployed just a month earlier, was awarded posthumously with the Bronze Star. Strobl shared his 20-page journal of the trip with friends and co-workers, and it eventually spread virally to military blogs and the media. It was quickly green-lit for filming after surfacing at HBO. The poignant and moving score is by Marcelo Zarvos.
