Dimitri Tiomkin's The Four Poster

1-Dec-2012 - Screen Archives Entertainment has released The Four Poster. Based on the two-character play by Jan de Hartog, this is a delightful romantic comedy produced by Stanley Kramer with a lyrical, lilting musical score by Dimitri Tiomkin. Unique are the UPA Studios animated sequences. The scoring for these cartoon gems gives Tiomkin an opportunity for complete departure from his foundation score and he interpolates a variety of period melodies and motifs. This CD presents the first comprehensive release of music and, in fact, the score is presented in its entirety, taken from acetates in the Tiomkin Collection at the University of Southern California Cinema and Television Library.
