François de Roubaix's La Scoumoune
3-Aug-2004 - CAM Original Soundtracks in Italy has re-released the long out-of-print score for La Scoumoune, a brilliant gangster film directed by José Giovanni in 1972. The story takes place in Marseille (France) in the mid 1930s, where Roberto Borgo (Jean-Paul Belmondo) emigrates to from Sicily, in order to catch up with his friend Xavier (Michel Constantin), who has just been sentenced to 20 years in prison. The superb score is by François de Roubaix, composer of memorable soundtracks such as Le Vieux Fusil and L'Homme Orchestre. The booklet includes new liner notes by De Roubaix's biographer, Gilles Loison.
