FSM's new releases
7-Sep-2004 - Film Score Monthly comes with two new releases. First there is Ride The High Country, coupled with Mail Order Bride, both scored by George Bassman, a veteran songwriter and composer whose Hollywood career (including M-G-M's The Clock and The Postman Always Rings Twice) was interrupted by the blacklist. FSM's premiere release features the complete underscores for both films in stereo, remixed and remastered from the original 35mm three-track elements.
The second release is Cimarron (1960), an epic western telling the history of Oklahoma settlers. This CD features Franz Waxman's complete underscore to Cimarron, remixed from the original 35mm three-track stereo masters. In addition to a suite comprising alternate versions of three cues, many tracks include music that was either mixed at a very low level or severely truncated in the finished film.
