New from Decca
13-Jan-2005 - Decca has released two scores that both are worth our attention. The first one is an adaptation of William Shakespeare's classic play, The Merchant Of Venice, starring Al Pacino as Shylock, Jeremy Irons as Antonio, Joseph Fiennes as Bassanio, and Lynn Collins as Portia. The orchestral score is written by Jocelyn Pook.
Another release worth looking at is The Aviator. Focusing on his early years (from the 1930 production of 'Hell's Angels' to the 1947 test flight of the Blue Spruce, when he was 42), this is the story of how young Howard Hughes, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, transformed a small fortune into a massive one. The impressive score is by Howard Shore.
