Cyril Moran's The Syrian Bride
22-Mar-2005 - Colosseum Records has released The Syrian Bride, the story of Mona, who’s wedding day is the saddest day of her life. Once she crosses the border between Israel and Syria to marry Syrian TV star Tallel, she will never be allowed back to her family in Majdal Shams, a Druze village in the Israeli occupied Golan Heights. Cyril Moran, who composed a beautiful score, says this about his music: "I felt like using musical instruments from the Mediterranean region, such as the oud, the Egyptian ney or the Armenian kanoun. I searched above all for colors to reflect the feelings and the story. The rest is composed for strings with a tongue-in-cheek reference to the Egyptian musical, full of life and with enchanting melodies."
