Elmer Bernstein’s Stripes
14-May-2005 - Varèse Sarabande has released one of the seminal scores of the 1980s, Stripes, a huge hit and featured a score by one of film music’s greatest legends, yet still there was no soundtrack release. Elmer Bernstein’s score is a classic. For it he composed a march that was every bit as memorable as the one he wrote for The Great Escape. Once again, Bernstein played the comedy straight and what resulted is a tremendously exciting action score. Finally, with a new, expanded DVD of the film being released, the time was right to correct this major film music oversight. It may be hard to believe, but Elmer Bernstein’s Stripes is now (and finally!) available!
