The new Varèse Sarabande CD Club titles...
21-Nov-2005 - Varèse Sarabande has released four new titles in the Varèse CD Club. The first one is the latest in their series of catalog reissues from the Varèse Sarabande archives, Maurice Jarre’s symphonic score for the comedy Top Secret!. Recorded by no less an orchestra than London’s Royal Philharmonic, the broadly scored comedy has long been one of the most requested catalog titles.
Another great Bill Conti score joins the CD Club and continues the rediscovery of this wonderful composer. Broadcast News was a major film release for 20th Century Fox back in 1987 and was nominated for seven Academy Awards. This world premiere CD release presents over one hour of music.
Mastered from original three-track masters rather than the two track album masters, The Scalphunters has never sounded better as the album comes to CD for the first time. Sweeping, grand, rollicking and action-packed, Elmer Bernstein infuses an enormous amount of energy into this score. As a special bonus demos of two songs written for but not used in the film are included.
And finally, after fifty years of languishing in the studio archives, Victor Young’s glorious score for The Left Hand of God is released for the very first time. Young’s score is an exceptionally beautiful one. It is exotic and shimmering and truly one of the composer’s finest.
