Ernest Gold's The Last Sunset
27-Jul-2025 - Intrada presents the world-premiere release of Ernest Gold's score for the western The Last Sunset. Gold's main title lays out the themes that form the backbone of the score. On screen, as camera pans across rugged desert terrain, two different men, one dressed in black and the other in browns and blues, ride toward their destiny to music reminiscent of Fanfare for a Common Man. It sets the tone for a music score that has all the trappings of a complex yet robust western. Intrada founder Doug Fake had often asked about releasing this soundtrack, but it seemed there was always another title to prioritize. With his passing nearly a year ago, it seemed like the right time but also too late. It's a gem of a score and just another way the Intrada team can honor his memory and passion for film music. The album was sourced from the full-track master tapes stored at Universal in excellent condition. For more info and ordering, visit Intrada Records.
Riz Ortolani's Porca Vacca
24-Jul-2025 - Beat Records is pleased to release for the first time on CD the OST by Riz Ortolani for the dramatic comedy Porca VaccaThanks to the stereo master tapes of the original sessions, it was possible to release the complete score for the first time. Riz Ortolani composed and conducted an OST introduced by a rhythmic comic theme which is reprised in a slow version with accordion. The orchestra describes the historical period of World War I, and the military-flavored theme for trumpet and strings and is reprised by the harmonica. Dissonant passages for strings create a tense and macabre atmosphere. As a special surprise for fans of the legendary Renato Pozzetto, they also include the popular songs of the period in which the story is set, performed by Pozzetto and choir as they are heard in the film, all arranged and conducted by M°Ortolani. Ennio Morricone's Copkiller
10-Jul-2025 - Quartet Records presents a remastered CD reissue of the long-out-of-print soundtrack by Ennio Morricone for the 1983 police thriller Copkiller (aka Order Of Death). The plot of the movie is about a pair of corrupt cops spending their illegal cash on an uptown New York City apartment. Morricone’s score comes from the composer’s fertile period of poliziotteschi thrillers and his collaborations with Henri Verneuil in Belmondo’s French polars in the early 1980s. The music features the psychedelic, percussion-heavy and often ostinato-based cues that Morricone typically reserved for the steamy chaos of his crime-film scores. General Music released the score on LP in France and Germany in 1983, and GDM on CD in 2002. This new edition contains the same program. The package includes a richly illustrated booklet with in-depth liner notes by Daniel Schweiger. For more info and ordering, visit Quartet Records.
John Debney's Luck
2-Jul-2025 - Intrada Records announces a 2-CD set of the music from Skydance Animation's feature film Luck. For the film, composer John Debney composed a huge score, filled with themes, action and thrills. It's an adventure score with so much heart that upon hearing it Intrada Executive Producer Roger Feigelson felt urgently compelled to chase down Debney, Sony Music and Skydance Animation to coordinate an expanded release. While the music was made available on digital platforms at the time of the film's release, no physical album made available. The score in full form is a delight from start to finish, with musical inspiration bursting from one measure to the next. There are themes for the hopelessly unlucky main character Sam, the land of Luck itself, and many more. The music is riveting. For more info and ordering, visit Intrada Records.
Henry Mancini's The Thorn Birds
30-May-2025 - Varèse Sarabande presents a Deluxe Encore Edition of the soundtrack to The Thorn Birds, Henry Mancini’s television masterpiece. It became the second-highest rated miniseries of all time when it aired in March 1983, behind only Roots. His score is as intimate as it is epic, with a lilting, Irish-flavored dulcimer theme for the Cleary family’s Irish roots and the beauty of the Australian countryside, as well as a bittersweet love theme, given lyrics by Will Jennings as “Anywhere the Heart Goes”. This 2-CD Deluxe Encore Edition corrects the missing dulcimer melody of the main title from the original 2004 release, and is remastered for better sound and careful removal of sonic artifacts. For more info and ordering, visit Varèse Sarabande.
New from Quartet Records
23-May-2025 - Quartet Records, in collaboration with GDM and EMI General Music Publishing, presents a remastered edition of the iconic and long out-of-print score by Berto Pisano for the action-adventure film Kill! (1971). One of Pisano’s great skills was his ability to combine Italian musical tradition with new sounds emerging at the time. In Kill! the composer provides a cocktail of exotic sounds, exciting action passages and sophisticated erotic motifs.   Also Quartet Records, in collaboration with GDM and Universal Music Publishing Italia, presents a remastered reissue of the ultimate edition of Ennio Morricone’s score for Elio Petri’s 1973 social drama-comedy La Proprietà Non Epiù Un Furto (aka PROPERTY IS NO LONGER A THEFT). Ennio Morricone returns to the timbral and electronic exploration carried out in the two previous films, replicating the noises of the modern, oppressive and futuristic city.  And finally Quartet Records, in collaboration with GDM and EMI General Music Publishing, presents an expanded and remastered edition of Armando Trovajoli’s infectious score for the Ettore Scola film noir Il Commissario Pepe (1969).. For Scola, Trovajoli’s music was the voice of his films, the single element that really completed them. In IL COMMISSARIO PEPE, he contributed one of his most celebrated scores.  For more info and ordering, visit Quartet Records.
Elmer Bernstein's Class
25-Apr-2025 - Quartet Records, in collaboration with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, presents the premiere release of Elmer Bernstein’s charming score for the bittersweet high-school comedy Class (1983). Elmer Bernstein was no stranger to student comedies in the early 1980s, thanks to his collaborations with John Landis and Ivan Reitman, although CLASS is, rather, a romantic comedy. His score is a sheer delight, providing a sophisticated component to the film. The music is descriptive, romantic and funny, with a powerful main theme that is pure Bernstein. With the elements long gone, assembling this album was a challenge, but working from recently located original mono ¼” tapes and an incomplete set of 24 multi-track stereo elements, the music is finally being released—forty-two years after its recording. For more info and ordering, visit Quartet Records.
Hans Zimmer's A League Of Their Own
21-Apr-2025 - Intrada presents the premiere score-only release of Hans Zimmer's A League Of Their Own. Zimmer's music artistically represents not only the film's period, but the onscreen antics as the first-ever women's baseball team is formed, while retaining a sense of gravity and reverence for this historic and unfortunately short-lived episode in American baseball. The film gave Zimmer the opportunity to create a score that blends nostalgic Americana with his inimitable style, resulting in a mix of swing/jazz numbers that complement his rousing orchestral music. Although the film is party comedy, Zimmer narrows in on the heart of the story—the camaraderie of the players and the emotional depth of the story— while also capturing the WW II era. John Barry's The Knack... And How To Get It
25-Mar-2025 - Quartet Records, in collaboration with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, celebrates the 60th anniversary of the iconic score composed by John Barry for the classic Richard Lester film The Knack... And How To Get It, winner of the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1965—a symbol of its generation, a true witness of its time. The “Swinging Sixties” marked a period of significant social, cultural and innovative change in the UK. John Barry played a pivotal role in shaping the cultural revolution of the era, swiftly becoming one of England’s most influential and sophisticated film composers. His GOLDFINGER soundtrack even surpassed The Beatles, reaching number 1 on the Billboard charts in March 1965. Barry’s music for THE KNACK is vibrant, funny, powerfully melodic and well-remembered as an icon of the “Swinging London” movement.

Bernard Herrmann's Cape Fear
23-Feb-2025 - Quartet Records, Universal Pictures, Amblin Entertainment, Universal Music Special Markets and Geffen Records present an expanded and remastered 2-CD edition of Elmer Bernstein’s adaptation of Bernard Herrmann’s music for Cape Fear, the 1991 remake directed by Martin Scorsese from the 1962 Universal classic film noir for which Herrmann composed the original score. Both Scorsese and producer Steven Spielberg wanted to use Herrmann’s iconic score from the original film in their new version, knowing that Herrmann’s music could still move audiences in 1991 as it had three decades earlier. Elmer Bernstein, a close friend and scholar of Herrmann, was the best choice to adapt the score to the needs and editing of the new film. Some original music by Bernstein in Herrmann’s style, were incorporated here and there to give the new score more consistency. For more info and ordering, visit Quartet Records.

John Williams' The Patriot
21-Jan-2025 - Intrada announces a 25th-anniversary edition of John Williams' Oscar-nominated score to the 2000 Columbia Pictures/Centropolis film The Patriot. Throughout Williams' long and treasured career he had developed a fresh, Americana voice, first coming to the fore in his 1969 score to The Reivers, then furthered a few years later with The Cowboys and quite powerfully in an unexpected place—-the Smallville sequences of Superman. It was a style that he would return to periodically and The Patriot provided a showcase for this style. The score involves three principal themes that correspond to protagonist Martin’s past, present, and future—the war trauma theme, the love theme and the patriot theme. As the themes weave throughout the score, Williams' beloved epic style is on full display, as well as exciting action music. It's all here in this lengthy and powerful work. For more info and ordering, visit Intrada Records.
Ennio Morricone's Tre Colonne In Cronaca
14-Jan-2025 - Quartet Records, in collaboration with GDM and Finross, presents a remastered reissue of the expanded edition of Tre Colonne In Cronaca, one of the great Ennio Morricone efforts of the early ’90s for the film of Carlo Vanzina. The album of Tre Colonne In Cronaca was released in 1990 on LP and CD in a short program of less than 30 minutes. In 2002, GDM CD Club released an expanded limited edition, supervised by the composer, and produced by Dániel Winkler and Claudio Fuiano, containing all the music recorded for the film and it quickly sold out. This is a reissue of the same program, revised and mastered by Chris Malone. For more info and ordering, visit Quartet Records.

These beautifully designed albums contain some of the composer’s best-known themes, newly arranged and performed, and—in the case of AMERICANS—an original musical work for jazz soloists and orchestra. Ahead of his first public appearance conducting a symphony concert in October 1972, John Barry prepared a series of suites from some of his most successful triumphs, in a lavish and new symphonic orchestration, specially arranged to be performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under his baton.
